It may be hard to believe, but Arizona is known for some of the best black bear hunting in the country. Arizona offers extraordinary trophy bear hunting with many record book bears harvested every year. Some tags are through the Arizona draw process, but over the counter black bear tags are also available during certain times of the year. The black bears are primarily hunted by spotting and stalking and occasionally by setting water. However, the use of the calling method provides a lot of excitement as well. Each year, it’s not uncommon to see many different color phase black bears (brown, cinnamon, chocolate, black, and blonde) as well as multiple bears on your hunt. If you have never had the opportunity to chase lions with some of the top hound dogs then you are missing out. This hunt is an adrenaline rush for sure in either the snow country or on dryland. The best time of year is late October through the end of April. If there is a lion in the area, these dogs can sniff it out. This is a bucket list hunt for sure!

It doesn’t get much more exciting that calling in coyotes, bob cats, javelina, and the occasional mountain lion. AZHC offers year round predator and varmint hunting.
